About US

Since 1862, Café du Monde has been a New Orleans original. Our historic coffee stand in the French Market opens daily from early morning until late night, closing only for Christmas and the occasional hurricane.
We keep things simple and classic. Our menu features dark-roasted coffee and chicory, served black or au lait—mixed half and half with hot milk. Our famous beignets, square French-style doughnuts, come hot and generously dusted with powdered sugar. We also offer white and chocolate milk, fresh-squeezed orange juice, iced coffee, and soft drinks.
The Fernandez family has owned and operated Café du Monde since 1942. Over the years, they’ve dedicated themselves to preserving the tradition and quality that have made this coffee stand a beloved institution.
Located in the heart of the French Quarter, our café is part of a rich history that stretches back to the Choctaw trading grounds and the early days of New Orleans. The building itself dates back to the Spanish colonial era and has been a central part of the city’s life for generations.
Today, just as it was over 150 years ago, Café du Monde remains a place where locals and visitors gather to enjoy coffee, beignets, and the timeless atmosphere of New Orleans.
